$45 WINE REGION INSPIRED DINNER MENUS, FRIDAY & SATURDAY | Based on our passion for the grape Vertical is featuring prix-fixe dinner menus on Friday & Saturday evenings of each month inspired by wine regions that we are passionate about and reflect our wine list. After Winterlicious and running to the end of March, we will be featuring the wines and gastronomy of Tuscany in central Italy. Tuscany's modern renaissance in wine began in Chianti, in the hills the stretch between Siena and Florence and then branched out to the coastal areas. Reds are based on clones of the Sangiovese grape; Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Morellino di Scansano. Recent success with the 'Super Tuscan' wines incorporating global varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah has enhanced the region's reputation. $45 four course menu, $60 including wine pairings.

OUR STORY | Situated in the heart of the Financial District, the partnership of Joe Alberti and Gary Chivers launched Vertical in 2005 on the mezzanine level of Canada's tallest building, First Canadian Place (BMO tower). Vertical features a stylish 70 seat main dining room, two private dining rooms that seat 12 & 16 respectively and a separate bar|lounge highlighted by a stunning 40 foot sandstone bar top. The mezzanine patio & lounge overlooks the parkette and waterfall of First Canadian Place facing King Street.
Under the direction of Chef Tawfik Shehata, the ingredient driven seasonal cuisine is inspired by southern Italy and the Mediterranean with a focus on simplicity and freshness. The menu is prepared in a lighter, healthier style indicative of Mediterranean influenced cuisine. Whole grilled fish, fresh pasta and naturally raised Ontario beef are specialties of Vertical.
The wine list is a compilation of passionate producers who we feel grow varietals that best express their region. The list is focused mainly in Italy complemented by selections from Spain and Portugal. New World selections include the regions of Australia, Argentina, California, Washington, Oregon and New Zealand. Vertical now features a special Ontario section in the wine list. Special attention is also paid to the regional wines of southern Italy focusing on the value driven, high quality wines of Campania, Puglia and Sicily. Twenty five wines are available by the glass or in a unique individual 9 ounce carafe called a 'quartino'. A selection of Riedel stemware from The Wine Establishment has been chosen to enhance the varietal characteristics of the wines on the list. Vertical has received the "Award of Excellence" from Wine Spectator magazine each year since 2007. Corkage is $25 per bottle and is waived if you also order a bottle of wine from our list.
Vertical is proud to showcase the original work of two local artists; the paintings by Cory Tower and the photographic panoramas by Rick O'Brien. We are open for lunch Monday to Friday and for dinner Monday to Saturday. We are available for private functions or catering on weekends. Complimentary parking for dinner guests is available in First Canadian Place from 5pm Monday to Friday and all day Saturday.
PRIVATE WINE LOCKERS | The lockers have been custom built and are designed to allow for maximum airflow in our temperature controlled cellar. Store 12-16 bottles from your personal collection in your own private locker, we will provide members with monthly inventory updates. For events such as hockey, basketball, concerts or pre-theatre, you can have your wine decanted and ready on your table with one phone call!
